Multi-skilled global customs & trade consultant with over 30 years’
extensive experience of Customs in the UK, EU member States and further afield;
both as a Customs Officer, professional adviser and as Financial Director and
Company Secretary of active trading companies and investment houses.
The Professional
John is the senior partner of the UK practice Carillon Millor, a specialist
consulting firm that identifies and achieves absolute savings through the
recovery of duty and the mitigation of risk across the customs compliance
spectrum and in thinking differently about how customs should work for clients.
John has a wide ranging technical, practical & operational knowledge of
customs & trade. He specialises in chemicals, pharma, food & drink,
industrial processing, automotive, textile and export controlled industries.
He regularly counsels multinational companies on their thinking, their global
e-commerce strategies, their global customs and international trade audits, and
more recently, how to derive the best results from “Brexit”.
Carillon Millor’s approach is holistic and differentiating; using bespoke tools
& proprietary methods to identify and maximize the Customs Supply Chain™
throughout an international trading business. An equal focus on the validity of
education and customized training helps support this.
The Associate
John is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Tax Advisors (CTA), the
Institute of Indirect Taxation (AIIT), the Global Legal Customs Association. He
represents the Chartered Institute of Tax (CIoT) at UK Customs main trade
forum: the “JCCC” [Joint Customs Consultative Committee]. He is also a
Fellow of the UK Institute of Directors (FIoD).
John is the founding consultant editor of Wolters Kluwer CCH Customs Duty and
Excise Handbooks (The “Purple” Books) as currently used by all UK HMRC Customs
staff and distributed across the EU and maintains an active involvement in its
preparation.
